hello!
This website features my freelance and self-initiated artwork. I'm currently employed as a designer for a greetings card publisher, but am also open to new opportunities.

I specialize in character and narrative illustration. I graduated from the University of Lincoln (Hull) with a First Class BA Honours in Illustration; much of my work then was influenced by children’s picture books, and I wrote my dissertation on their construction and visual language. Since then, I've also become very interested in comics, and contribute regularly to small-press titles as well as working on my own self-published booklets.

My work is based on much observation and many rough sketches. I’m interested in the humour that can be found in small situations, incongruous combinations of characters and places, and encouraging readers to notice these things for themselves.

I have developed a style of drawing which I feel is both neat but in keeping with the fluidity of my sketches; I’d hope this gives a friendly appearance to my characters, even while the illustration might make a satirical point.

I work mostly in ink, and in watercolour, but am also experienced in using various design software.
